Renowned for their trance–like melodies, stunning instrumental virtuosity and magical marriage of tradition and technology, this super-group featuring members of Vulfpeck and Lúnasa, have discovered a synergy within their diverse musical backgrounds.

.the olllam.

The Olllam were formed in 2012 as a collaboration between Belfast piper John McSherry (Lúnasa & Coolfin) and seminal Detroit musicians Tyler Duncan, Michael Shimmin (Millish), Joe Dart, Theo Katzman and Woody Goss (Vulfpeck). A resulting album was released on Compass Records.

Since then, Katzman, Dart and Goss have found world fame as members of the cult band Vulfpeck whilst McSherry has released two solo albums and has been touring with Belfast trad band Ulaid who recently released an acclaimed album, “A Note Let Go” with Duke Special.

The powerful rhythm section of bassist Joe Dart and drummer Mike Shimmin is unique, whilst Tyler Duncan and John McSherry on pipes and low whistles are a melodic and harmonic dream. Duncan’s inventive musical arrangements are simply outstanding. On their summer 2018 dates in Ireland these four founding members they will be joined by Detroit keyboard player Joe Hettinga and Limerick guitarist Sean O’Meara

“… the result is described by them as Neo-Acoustic Celtic Post-Rock. I’d describe it a little differently – it’s f***in’ deadly!”
